Welcome to the official website of the ‘Survey of Dialects of the Marathi Language (SDML)’. This is a joint project of the Deccan College (Deemed University), Pune and Rajya Marathi Vikas Sanstha, Mumbai designed to create a digital database of contemporary regional variation in the Marathi language spoken in the state of Maharashtra. The website is an outcome of a joint project (2017- ) funded by the Rajya Marathi Vikas Sanstha, Mumbai (Government of Maharashtra) and implemented by the Deccan College (Deemed University), Pune. The website provides:
(i) an open-source database of geographical variation in Marathi
(ii) mapping of geographical variation in selected (diagnostic) lexical and grammatical features in the language.
The maps provided on this website are interactive in nature.
