The words kaka and mama were noted for the concepts ‘ego’s father’s younger sister’s husband’ and ‘ego’s father’s elder sister’s husband’ throughout Maharashtra. For this kin relation, mama, mamaǰi, pʰupʰa, pʰupa, pʰua, pʰuwa, pʰopʰa, pʰupʰaǰI, pʰəpʰa, pʰuppa, kaka, ateymama, atoba, attoba, atemama, atto, ato, atoyi, atwya, atoi, atui, attui, atuba, pʰiyaǰi, pʰiya, pʰuya, pʰuaǰi, pʰuwo, pʰuo, mawḷa, mawəḷ, mamas, atyaǰi, ətyañǰi, əttyaǰi, bʰauǰi, bʰaoǰi, əṅkəl, kakapay, mawsa, mawso, nəndwis, nəndəi, kakus, mamañǰi, bʰaiǰan, tiway, atwa, dʰakos, čulta, bʰaṭwa, mamoi, buwamama, etc. variants were recorded.

According to geographical diversity, the words pʰupʰa, bʰaiǰan, pʰupa, pʰuo, pʰiyaǰi, pʰuaǰi were documented among the tribal communities of the Konkan belt as well as in tribal communities such as Warli, Mahadev Koli, Banjara, Mangeli, and Thakur of Dhule, Jalgaon, Nashik and Nandurbar districts. Further, it was also reported in the Muslim community of Maharashtra. The word kakapay was attested in the Christian community. mawḷa was elicited in the Maratha community to some extent and infrequently in the Koli, Mahar and Teli communities. Honorific words such as mamaǰi, kakaǰi, atoyi, pʰiyaǰi, mamañǰi were reported in the Vidarbha region. attui was recorded in the Kunbi and Mang communities of Wardha, Amravati, Washim, and Akola districts. atoi was reported in the Buddhist community. The word bʰaṭwa was noted in the Kunbi community of Nagpur district.
