The words čʰəppər and čʰət were reported along with the words kəulə, nəḷya, kʰaprya and their phonetic variants in regions where slanting roofs are made using material such as kʰaprya ‘a type of clay roof tiles’, kəulə ‘a type of clay roof tiles’ or nəḷya ‘a type of curved roof tiles’. The word kəularu was observed in most of the regions in Maharashtra while the word aḍa was reported more frequently in Pune district; the words aḍ and əḍə were reported as its phonetic variants. The word məḍyar was observed in Sawantwadi taluka of Sindhudurg, a district adjacent to Goa. The word nəḷya and its phonetic variants were observed in Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri districts. The word kʰaprel and its phonetic variants were reported widely in Marathwada and Vidarbha regions. The words hara, nəḷe, nəle were reported infrequently by Marathi speakers of the Muslim communities. The word wərən and its phonetic variants were noted in Bhandara and Chandrapur districts. In Aurangabad and Nashik districts, slanting roofs made using hay are referred to as čʰəppər whereas slanting roofs made using clay roof tiles are referred to as kəularu or čʰət. In Addition, the words benɡrol, morpak, kəbelu, dʰopaṭɡe were observed among members of the Marar, Matang, Kunbi and Gond communities respectively. The word ṭin and its phonetic variants were observed in Marathwada and Vidarbha regions.
